Which document do you need translated?
Find your document in the list below and open its page. Civil status
Identity and name
- Name change affidavit or gazette — Affidavits, gazette notices and other proof that explains why your name differs between documents. Every name variant is copied letter by letter.
- Police clearance certificate translation — A Turkish Adli Sicil Kaydı, a Ukrainian Довідка про несудимість, a Russian Справка о несудимости or an Indian PCC. Many offices want a recent certificate.
Education and driving
- Degree and transcript translation — Diplomas, transcripts, diploma supplements and mark sheets. Grades and grading scales stay exactly as printed. For recognition, ask your Anerkennungsstelle what it needs.
- Driving licence translation — Cards and older booklets, with every vehicle class and its dates. Ukrainian licences follow special rules; most other licences need a theory and practical test to convert.
Other documents
We also translate custody orders, consent letters, family statements such as the Syrian بيان عائلي, nationality certificates, the Iraqi Unified National Card and certificates of good standing. Upload the document and you get a fixed price and a delivery date before you pay.
Documents by country
Each country names its documents differently, and German offices know them by these names. The table shows typical documents and what to know before you order. Read our guide to apostille, legalisation and verification for the full rules.
| Country | Typical document (local name) | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Turkey | Nüfus Kayıt Örneği, Doğum Belgesi, Evlenme Cüzdanı, Adli Sicil Kaydı | Most need an apostille. Formül A, B and C need neither a translation nor an apostille. |
| Ukraine | Свідоцтво про народження, Свідоцтво про шлюб, Диплом + додаток | Apostille from the Ukrainian ministries. Older Soviet-era documents are often in Russian. |
| Russia | Свидетельство о рождении, Свидетельство о браке, Водительское удостоверение | Apostille from justice authorities or the civil registry (ZAGS). |
| Syria | إخراج قيد (Ikhraj Qaid), بيان عائلي, عقد زواج | The German Embassy in Beirut legalises certain database extracts; otherwise your office decides. |
| Iraq | البطاقة الوطنية الموحدة, شهادة الجنسية, عقد زواج | Legalisation is suspended. Kurdistan Region documents may be in Kurdish and Arabic. |
| Afghanistan | Tazkira, Nikah-Khat, school certificates | Dari and Pashto. Your office decides whether it accepts the document. |
| India | Birth and marriage certificates, PCC, degree and mark sheets | An Indian apostille is not valid; your office may ask for a verification. Often bilingual. |
We translate from Turkish, Arabic, Kurdish, Dari, Pashto, Persian, Ukrainian, Russian, English, Hindi and other Indian languages. Names in Arabic, Cyrillic, Persian or Devanagari script are transliterated, and your passport spelling goes in a translator's note.

Frequently asked questions about document translation
My document is already in English. Do I still need a German translation?
Often yes, but not always. The official language of German authorities is German, so an office can ask for a translation. Your office's letter decides. Read more about English to German translation.
Do I need to translate a Turkish Formül A or B?
According to the German Embassy in Turkey, the multilingual Formül A, B and C need neither a translation nor an apostille. Other Turkish documents usually need both an apostille and a sworn translation.
Do you translate stamps, seals and the back side?
Yes. We translate the whole document, including stamps, seals, handwritten notes, the apostille and the back side. If a part cannot be read, it is marked as illegible instead of guessed.
My name is spelled differently on my documents. Is that a problem?
The translator copies each name exactly as it appears and transliterates non-Latin scripts. If your passport spells it differently, a translator's note shows the passport spelling. Your office may still ask for further proof.
Is a translation made in my home country accepted?
Usually not. German offices normally want a translator sworn by a German court. You can check every translator in the register at justiz-dolmetscher.de.
Can you guarantee that my office will take the translation?
We cannot guarantee a decision. A sworn translation is valid throughout Germany. The office makes the final decision.
