How much does a sworn translation cost in Germany?
A standard one-page certificate costs from €39 in English and from €49 in any other language, including the signed original by post. Longer documents, such as court decrees, cost more because there is more text. Express delivery and extra paper copies cost extra. You always get one fixed price for your document before you pay.

What the price depends on
- Length of the text. Certificates usually have a fixed price. Long documents, such as a divorce decree, are priced by length. For court work, German law (§ 11 JVEG) pays translators by lines of 55 characters. Since June 2025 it pays between €1.95 and €2.30 per line, depending on the format and difficulty of the text.
- Language pair. English documents start at €39, all other languages at €49. Some languages have fewer translators sworn by German courts, which can change the delivery time. See the languages we translate.
- Readability. Handwritten entries in a Syrian or Iraqi registry extract or an Afghan Tazkira, faded stamps on older Ukrainian or Russian certificates and bilingual layouts take more time.
- Delivery speed. Express costs extra.
- Extra copies. Each additional signed paper original costs a small fee.
What is included in every price
- The full sworn translation into German, including stamps, seals, handwritten notes and the back side
- The translator's certification statement, stamp and signature
- A translator's note if your passport spells a name differently
- A PDF by email, so you can check it at once

Frequently asked questions about prices
Beglaubigte Übersetzung Kosten: why is a sworn translation more expensive than a normal one?
A translator sworn by a German court must translate every word, stamp and note. The translator then checks, signs and stamps it and takes legal responsibility. This takes more time than a normal translation.
Why does a divorce decree cost more than a birth certificate?
A divorce decree often has several pages of text. A birth certificate usually has one page. The price follows the amount of text: a divorce decree costs from €42 per page, a birth certificate from €39.
Is postage included in the price?
Yes. Post of the signed original to your German address is included in Standard and Express. Tracked post within Germany costs + €5. Post to another country costs + €15.
Do I pay before or after the translation?
You pay after you accept your fixed price and before the translator starts.
Can I get a cheaper price for several documents?
Upload all documents together. Your quote shows the price for each document and any package price. The citizenship set costs from €69, the couple set from €99, and each additional child's birth certificate + €35.
Is a cheaper translation from my home country or a notary valid in Germany?
German offices usually ask for a translation by a translator sworn by a German court. A translation certified in Turkey, Syria, India or another country, or a notarised translation, is not the same. Check the letter from your office.
Why do Turkish, Arabic or Ukrainian documents cost from €49?
English documents start at €39. Other languages start at €49 because names must be transliterated from scripts such as Arabic or Cyrillic, and fewer sworn translators work in some languages. Your quote shows the exact price.
Do I have to pay for a Turkish Formül A, B or C translation?
Usually you need no translation at all. According to the German Embassy in Turkey, the multilingual Formül A, B and C extracts need neither a translation nor an apostille in Germany. Check with your office before you order.
