Indian Languages to German Translation: Find Your Language

Last updated: 2 October 2026

Your certificate is in Hindi, Tamil, Urdu or another Indian language, and a German office wants it in German. Our Indian languages to German translation covers nine Indian languages, plus English. Each translation is a sworn translation (beglaubigte Übersetzung), made by our partner translators sworn by German courts. They read the script on your document and know Indian name forms. Typical documents are your Geburtsurkunde (birth certificate), Heiratsurkunde (marriage certificate) and Zeugnis (school or degree certificate).

  • Ten language pages, each with the script, names and documents of that language
  • Documents with two languages on one page translated in full
  • Names kept exactly as on your document, with your passport spelling in a translator's note
  • PDF in 3 working days, signed original posted to your German address (usually 1–3 working days)

What language is your document in?

Look at the main language on your document and open that language's page below. Each page explains how that script and its names are translated, and which documents are typical in that language. For some languages there are only a few sworn translators in Germany. So we confirm your delivery date before you pay.

Know your document but not the language? You can also find your document or choose by purpose.

Indian languages to German translation: choose your language

English

  • English documents into German (Latin script) — English documents from India, the UK, the US and other countries. Many offices ask for German even when your document is in English. Some, like the ZAB, read English.

North India

West India

  • Marathi to German translation (Devanagari) — Documents from Maharashtra and Goa. Father's name, mother's name and married name stay in the document's order, never moved to another field.
  • Gujarati documents in German (Gujarati script) — GSEB mark sheets, birth and marriage certificates. Endings like "-bhai" and "-ben" are kept as written, never removed.

South India

East India

  • Sworn translation from Bengali (Bengali script, also called Bangla) — Documents from West Bengal, Tripura and other states. Long and short surname forms (Mukhopadhyay / Mukherjee) are linked in a note, not replaced.

Documents in two languages

Many Indian certificates have two languages on one page, for example Hindi and English. We translate every part of the page into German in one sworn translation, including stamps and handwritten notes. Choose the page of the Indian language on your document. If your document is mostly in English, we tell you if a translation from the English part is enough.

Sworn translators for every language on this page

German courts do not swear translators for every language. For the ten languages above, we work with partner translators sworn by German courts. Standard delivery is a PDF in 3 working days for every language on this page; we confirm the date before you pay. Is your language not listed? Ask us first. We tell you honestly whether we can arrange a sworn translator.

How to order

  1. 1Upload your document. Usually a clear scan or photo is enough. Some offices want the translator to see the original, so check your letter.
  2. 2Get your fixed price and date. We match your document with the partner translator sworn for your language. You see the price and the delivery date before you pay.
  3. 3Receive your PDF. You get the PDF of your sworn translation in 3 working days.
  4. 4Get the signed original. It is posted to your German address, usually in 1–3 working days.

Our Indian languages to German translation service works in these steps. Read how the process works or see our prices.
